CREATE Grant Applications

The CREATE Program has applied for federal funding through various competitive federal grant programs. Information on these applications are included below. Of the 13 grant applications submitted, six were won, five were not received, one grant program was cancelled, and one is currently under evaulation.

CRISI Application

This CRISI grant application was submitted to the FRA on September 14, 2018. The grant application is available here.

IDOT Competitive Freight Program Application

It was announced on June 5, 2018 that the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) Program will receive $49.9 million in funding through IDOT’s Illinois Competitive Freight Program, which is administered by IDOT using federal funds.

This grant application was submitted to IDOT on April 6, 2018. The grant application is available here.

INFRA Application

It was announced on June 5, 2018 that the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) Program will receive $132 million in federal funding for the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project (CIP).

This INFRA grant application was submitted to USDOT on November 2, 2017. The grant application is available here.

FASTLANE Application

This FASTLANE grant application was submitted to USDOT on December 14, 2016. The grant application is available here.

FASTLANE Application

This grant application was submitted to USDOT on April 13, 2016. CREATE was not awarded a FASTLANE grant. The grant application is accessible here.

FRA Application

This grant application was submitted to the FRA on November 4, 2015. CREATE was awarded a grant of $1.25M. The grant application is accessible here.

TIGER VII Application

The TIGER VII application was submitted on June 4, 2015.  The grant application is accessible here.

TIGER V Application

The TIGER V application was submitted on June 3, 2013.  The grant application is accessible here.

TIGER IV Application

The TIGER IV application was submitted on March 19, 2012. The grant application is accessible here.

CREATE was awarded a TIGER IV grant of $10.4 million. See press release here for details.

TIGER III Application

The TIGER III application was submitted on October 31, 2011. The grant application is accessible here.

ARRA High Speed and Intercity Passenger Rail Grant Program

The CREATE Partners announced January 29, 2010 that the CREATE Program will receive $133 million as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for a critical rail/rail flyover near 63rd and State Streets in the Englewood community on the south side of Chicago. TIGER II Application

The TIGER II application was submitted on August 23, 2010. The grant application is accessible here.

CREATE was not awarded a TIGER II grant.

TIGER Application

An application for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) funds was submitted in August, 2009.  The grant application is accessible here.

On February 17, 2010 Governor Pat Quinn announced that the Illinois Department of Transportation received a $100 million award from the TIGER program on behalf the CREATE Program.
