CREATE Program FP&PS Modification

CREATE Project EW2/P2/P3

The Federal Highway Administration, Illinois Department of Transportation, Chicago Department of Transportation and Association of American Railroads have agreed to modifications to the linked CREATE Project EW2/P2/P3.  In particular, after some design changes, the EW2 project has been extended south of its former terminus at 80^th St, to approximately the Dan Ryan Expressway on the East, and 91^st St. on the South.  The extension includes additional rail trackwork as well as utilizing an existing bay on an existing railroad-over-railroad bridge north of 87^th St.  It also includes a new railroad bridge over 87^th and 88^th Sts.  The rationale for extending the project is to further reduce crossover movements that lead to train delays for freight and Amtrak trains.
